We’ve got good news and bad news. First, for the good news, the restoration crew got a good start on drywall repair, painting, and installing the baseboards yesterday. Look at this progress!

I’m sure you know how difficult it is to select a paint color based on a paint chip. Chris and I chose this gray color, hoping that it would look good in the basement. I love it! Unfortunately the stairwell is a little darker than we would like it to be, but I’m so glad that our paint choice turned out to be a good one!
The bad news in this situation is that our water intrusion issue is not resolved. Many years ago, one corner of the basement had some water intrusion. We thought it was fixed when we replaced our concrete patio right after Damon was born. But thanks to all of the heavy rain we have experienced this spring, the water issue has reappeared.

The restoration company could not work on this part of the basement until the water issue is resolved. Thank goodness they quickly put us in touch with a great foundation company. Once this company fixes the downspout, which we believe is the culprit, then the basement work can be finished.
So we have hit pause on this project for the time being. I’m praying that the foundation company will be able to fit us in quickly so we can finish our basement and return to some normalcy in our house! Until the downspout is repaired, this is where our project will sit.
