Kids write about what they know, right? So apparently Damon knows a lot about sports. (I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear that!) Here are two recent assignments Damon brought home from school.

The first one was writing sentences with sight words.

Here are the translations:

A bird is cool
I am a boy.
I like Mrs. McGill.
I love school.
I like Mrs. Gardner.
I like to play.
I love PE.
I love IU.
I love the Colts.
I love the Pacers.
I love Center Grove.
I love the Big Ten.

The second assignment was a 6-page book about how to do something step by step. Of course, Damon chose to explain how to play basketball. Check out his illustrations as well as his writing!

How to Play Basketball
By Damon Clark
He drew pictures of a basketball, a goal, a player, and a court.
Step 1: Tipoff.
Step 2: Then you try to get a basket.
Step 3: Steal the ball.
Step 4: Layup.
Step 5: Pass it in. Then go back down to the other side.

I’ve been so impressed with all of the work he’s done in kindergarten this year!

Kindergarten is definitely not the kindergarten of yesteryears. Way to go Damon.
