Between Chris’ birthday lunch celebration and Damon’s baseball game last night Avery had her 13-year doctor’s appointment. Here are her latest stats:
Weight – 76.8 pounds, an increase of 10.4 pounds since last year (3rd to 5th percentile).
Height – 56.25 inches, an increase of 2.25 inches since last year (1st percentile).
Dr. Roscoe said Avery is just starting to hit her growth spurt. She will continue to grow over the next few years while most girls her age are approaching the end of their growth spurt.
When Dr. Roscoe asked Avery about her favorite subject in school, she answered with language arts because she loves to read and write. He encouraged her to read a lot over the summer, which she certainly will do. I commented that she reads the same four or five books over and over. He said that she needs to step out and read some new books! Let’s hope she listens to him since she hasn’t heard me when I’ve encouraged her to read new books!
For the final point, Dr. Roscoe told us to continue discussing what-if scenarios. As she gets older, Avery will be presented with many situations, and he encouraged her to make good choices. That’s not the first time she’s heard that!
