After a busy day at school yesterday, Avery had her 12-year doctor’s appointment. Here are her latest stats:

Weight – 66.4 pounds, an increase of 6.8 pounds since last year (2nd percentile).
Height – 54 inches, an increase of 3 inches since last year (2nd percentile).

I knew she was getting taller, thanks to her pants getting shorter! But I had no idea that she’s grown 3 inches over the past year.

Avery was pleased to tell the nurse practitioner about her running hobby. The nurse emphasized that Avery needs to eat more calories, especially protein, when she’s in running season. She can’t afford to lose any weight!

It was apparent that we need to continue discussing what-if scenarios. The nurse posed a what-if for a difficult situation, and Avery froze without a solid answer. So we’ll need to start talking about some difficult situations with her, though we know she can handle almost anything that comes her way.

The nurse always asks if the staff can pray about anything for our family. Avery boldly asked for prayers for her track meet today because she is running three long races. I was very pleased that she felt comfortable enough to ask for prayers for something that is happening in her life!
