Yesterday Avery and I donned our pandemic face masks to brave the doctor’s office for her 11-year doctor’s appointment. It was another uneventful appointment except I was reminded how much she is growing up! Here are her latest stats:

Weight – 59.6 pounds, an increase of 5.6 pounds since last year (3rd percentile).
Height – 51 inches, an increase of 1.5 inches since last year (3rd percentile). Dr. Roscoe said a growth spurt typically signifies the beginning of puberty. But since Avery hasn’t grown significantly yet, it’s likely that her growth spurt won’t happen soon. So she’ll probably be a late bloomer.

Dr. Roscoe suggested that we continue discussing what-if scenarios. But now those scenarios should include middle school girl drama, since that most likely will be a future stressor. We’re not looking forward to that!

Before she can go to sixth grade, Avery needed two immunizations. One is for meningitis, and the other is Tdap for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. So we took care of those yesterday. She was nervous about getting the shots, but she hardly flinched. Just another example of how grown-up she’s getting!
