Believe it or not, school started just a few days ago. And this year it was a big deal because Damon finally joined Avery! For five years, he has been watching her get on and off the bus, has been hearing her talk about school, and has been distracting her from doing her homework! It’s finally time for him to go to kindergarten.

There were no tears on the first day, either from Damon or from me. He’s been very anxious to start school, so he didn’t have any qualms about getting on the bus. He has a fabulous teacher, and we’re all looking forward to what the year holds for him. You can see from his smile that he wasn’t nervous at all about this big milestone!

As a fifth grader, Avery has the honor of being the oldest class in the school. She’s already been a great helper for Damon, explaining how the lunch line works and how to get on and off the bus. She also has an amazing teacher who we are sure will help prepare her well for middle school. It’s hard to believe that this is her last year of elementary school!

Thinking I would need some moral support, Daddy took the day off of work. After the bus left, Chris and I enjoyed breakfast out together. Then we spent the day in a quiet house – aaah! – catching up on some Netflix shows. Until the kids came home and couldn’t stop talking about their first days!

Here’s to a great school year!
