We thought yesterday was going to be Pez’s birth date. I woke up around 1:45 a.m. with some back pain. (That was how my labor with Avery started.) After timing the pains for a couple of hours, Chris called my doctor’s office. The doctor on call suggested we go to the hospital, and Chris didn’t argue although I wasn’t so sure.

In triage, the doctor said I had progressed just slightly from my appointment on Monday afternoon. But she suggested that we wait it out and see if I moved along any more. We even walked around the unit for a little bit, hoping that would jump start labor. But after three hours and no progress, we decided to go home, sorely disappointed that Pez wasn’t ready to make his big debut.

For the rest of the day, I was very tired and a little queasy. I slept off and on until I finally felt a little more normal around 8 p.m. Today I woke up feeling much better.

So we’re back in the waiting mode. I’m wondering if Pez will hold out till his due date now, although the doctor still believes he’ll come sometime this week. At least we can say we had a good trial run to the hospital!
