Cue the chorus of Handel’s “Messiah!”

Hallelujah! The long-awaited vanity arrived yesterday. This was scheduled to be delivered in four to six weeks, but that turned into eight weeks. I guess it was worth the long wait. We’re so happy with the vanity and countertop!

The stain is called “mocha,” and it’s a very close match to our existing woodwork. I originally wanted to go with a completely different color, but Chris rightfully convinced me that it would be best to try to match the existing woodwork, since we’re not changing that any time soon.

The new vanity and countertop seem slightly narrower than our original ones, which makes the bathroom seem larger. There never was much space between the counter and the toilet, and now that space seems to be bigger!

The new faucet is in a stainless steel finish. I much prefer this over the shiny chrome faucet we used to have.

Here are some bad close-up pictures of the countertop. Again, we weren’t sure how this would look, but we’re really pleased with how well it complements the woodwork and the wall color.

In the beginning, I wasn’t convinced that we needed a medicine cabinet. Instead, I wanted a small framed mirror above the sink. But once again Chris’ wise design consultation convinced me to select a medicine cabinet. And I’m glad we did.

The register cover was painted the same color as the walls, and the trim also was installed yesterday.
All that’s left for the crew on Monday is cleaning up, installing the knobs on the vanity and adding another coat of paint. I hope to report on Monday evening that this long, arduous project will be finished! Up next is the fun part of adding accessories and making it Avery’s “puhple” bathroom.
One more day!
