Yesterday was Damon’s first day of preschool! He has been ready for this for a long time.
Due to his late summer birthday, I always thought Damon would need two years of preschool, maybe even start kindergarten a year late. But he is right on track with where he should be (maybe even a little advanced, if I can be a bragging mommy), thanks to two grandmothers who are former teachers and an older sister who loves to boss him around when they play school!
He finally got his time in the spotlight yesterday!
He was so excited to use his Spider-Man backpack and matching lunchbox. He even packed his own lunch for the first day.
It wasn’t quite time to leave home for school, but Damon was too excited to wait any longer. “Let’s go to school now!” he said.
We arrived at his classroom, and Damon waltzed right in without so much as a wave goodbye. I was expecting a hug or a fist bump or something!
Then Daddy and I enjoyed a late breakfast and a quiet afternoon together. I didn’t shed a single tear. I might not be able to say that next year when Damon heads off to kindergarten!
