Sorry for the delay…Blogger wasn’t playing nicely, so it took me a little longer than I expected to get this post finished.
On Thanksgiving day, we hosted Chris’ parents, my parents and Aunt Karen for lunch at our house. I volunteered for this task, and my only request was that Mike make his famous deep-fried turkey for the main course. No one else objected, including Mike.
Chris bravely chose to wear an apron my Grandma Hromada made many, many years ago. I’m not sure she ever intended a man to wear it, but he made it look good!
After marinating for a couple of days, it was time to drop the turkey in the hot oil.
Gently…very gently. Mike has done this so many times that he has his own system and process. It must work, because he always fries a tasty turkey!
The oil requires intense supervision. It gives the men something to do other than watch football.
Avery helped me set the table with my Grandma Hromada’s china. Avery also painted the turkey placecards. She personally chose each person’s turkey. Everyone loved them, especially Avery. And this project wasn’t as messy as you might think!
About an hour after going in the oil, out comes the turkey.
You might think this is burned and overcooked, but it’s not. It a beautiful, tender and juicy bird.
Chris had the honors of carving the turkey.
Following that, we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner with all the fixings prepared by all of the women. I promise there were eight people at dinner. I was busy getting the food on the table and being a hostess so I never took any more pictures that day. I’ve been failing as a photographer lately!
We believe you, Teresa!!
And the table looks BEAUTIFUL!
