Here are some photos from Monday, my day off from work:
I woke up alone this morning. Chris left Saturday afternoon on a business trip. He’s visiting a church in Lake Ozark, Mo., to help some of its members establish IRAs. He’ll be back late tonight…thank goodness! He goes on so few business trips that it’s quite challenging to be a single parent for even just a few days.
And just to prove it to you, here are the sweet sounds I heard from the baby monitor.
After getting Avery out of bed, it was time for breakfast. I had my usual cinnamon-flavored Toaster Strudels and chocolate milk while Avery enjoyed Cheerios and milk.
Avery chose her clothes for the day, including her underwear. She went with Dora panties today.
Don’t forget the shoes from the closet!
Next we made a grocery list, chose coupons and headed to Kroger.
Avery is a great shopping assistant. Not only does she help me get things off the shelves, she likes to hold items in the cart and then put them on the conveyor belt for me. Notice the pink fuzzy purse from Aunt Karen? She insisted on taking it in the store with her. I think I heard a few customers giggle at this cute girl and her purse.
After we got home, we put away the groceries and played a little. Then it was lunch time. Avery requested one of her usual meals: macaroni and cheese.
Our post-naptime ritual is to watch I Love Lucy together. Today’s episode is one of my favorites (who am I kidding…they’re all my favorites!). Lucy is going to the hospital to have the baby. Ricky, Fred and Ethel practice the moment when Lucy declares, “The time has come!” Hilarity ensues.
Avery’s afternoon playtime included reading, watching Max and Ruby and cooking on her grill. I worked on some things around the house.
Daddy doesn’t usually like breakfast for dinner. So since he wasn’t home for dinner tonight, we enjoyed pancakes.
I guess we both were pretty hungry!
Here are our bags packed and ready for the morning.
