Last weekend, Chris was inspired by a deep discount at Menards to work on a much-needed outdoor home improvement project. The previous owners installed some beautiful red concrete pavers around the yard light and along the flowerbed in front of the dining room window. But they didn’t finish the rest of the front yard. So last weekend, Chris removed the old white slate rocks under the two bedroom windows and along the south side of the garage and replaced them with concrete pavers to match the original ones.
Unfortunately, Chris chose the hottest, most humid weekend of the summer for this labor-intensive project. He instructed me to take pictures of him in action because according to him, “Casey wouldn’t believe that I’m doing this.” (Casey loves the outdoors and even was a landscaper at one time. Chris…not so much!) But because it was so sticky and humid, even at 9 a.m., my camera lens fogged up as soon as I stepped outside and wouldn’t clear up until I came back in the cool house. So all you get are the after pictures.
The sale at Menards meant these pavers were about half-price, so the project ended up being very affordable.
Trust me, Casey: Chris did all of this work by himself. Avery occasionally helped to supervise, but no one except Chris lifted a single rock or paver. That doesn’t make me look very good, so I guess I shouldn’t be bragging about that!
